A: It is held in place from friction and ground contact. These are used at such a gradual angle that when the lip is resting on the upper surface, and the bottom of the ramp is in contact with the ground. There is a plate welded to the underside of the top ramp, at the upper end of it, and then there's also a plate welded to the TOP of bottom ramp section, at the lower end of it. This will prevent the two ramps from overextending/coming apart.
